How To Choose A Heated Pet Mat

When it comes to dealing with chilly days and nights whether they are young or older just like us most of our pets enjoy the warmth of the nice cozy space of their own.   Getting a heated pet mat is becoming a popular choice among pet owners not only for giving pets more comfort but for the sheer joy of spoiling your little buddy.   It’s actually not all that difficult to choose a heated pet mat for your furry friend.

The first thing you want to keep in mind is what breed of animal you have this will help you decide whether you need a small medium or large bed for your pet.   If you’re still unsure based on their breed because you think they may be a little bigger or smaller than the average pet.   Take the time to weigh them on a scale, in most cases, your everyday home scale will do and then take the measurements.

Once you’ve decided what size your pet will need then begin to consider what shape and design both you and your pet would prefer.   Just like we are with our mattresses on our bed some pets are fussier than others and will be particular about the feeling of the material and the shape of the bed so keep that in mind when choosing the right bed or mat.

Some heated mats have the option to have vibration similar to massage in the bed.   For some animals that may be sore from being older this may be a great option for them.   Some animals are skittish around certain noises or particular about what touches their paws or body so keep in mind that if your furry friend is one that seems to be afraid of a little noise then a basic heated mat or bed would probably be better for them than one with vibration or massage.

A final thought when choosing heated pet beds try to find one that has a removable cover that is washable. Since we all know, muddy little paws and minor mishaps are a fact of life with pets and you want to be able to wash off the bed when necessary. However, you won’t be able to do this if you don’t have a removable cover since you won’t be able to throw the whole bed itself in the wash with the electrical component to it.
